Micronesian Islander Community Celebration

After a two-year hiatus, Micronesian Islander Community (MIC) is proud to present the newly revamped (and retitled) signature event, “Micronesian Islander Community Celebration”, formerly known as the Taste of Micronesia.

This year, in stepping away from our traditional methods of mainly food and performance, we are focusing more on showcasing our cultures through education and performances.

Thanks to generous grants from the Marion Cultural Development Corporation and APANO through the Voter Organizing, Training, and Empowerment (VOTE) Partners, we will be able to bring Micronesian cultural performers from throughout Oregon to showcase their respective cultures.  We have performers representing most of the Micronesian islands and our neighboring islands, from the Yapese community to the Palauan community.  We will also have an invited cultural performance group to showcase modern Hawaiian-Polynesian dancing.

We invite you to join us at our upcoming celebration, and to bring your friends and family to the event as well.  While we will not be serving food at our event, we do invite folks to bring items for a potluck.  We will be providing bottled water!

Here are the details of our celebration:
